Cashback or 'cheque-back' is the most common way
for mobile retailers to reward you for buying a mobile phone. The
way it works is simple - you pay the 'normal' amount of line rental
each month to your network provider, then mail in your phone bill
after a set period to the company who sold you your phone to
claim back a set cash amount (paid to you by cheque or BACS).
It is common for retailers to ask you to send in your 4th, 8th &
12th month bills when they arrive. This proves to them that you are
still connected to your contract and that you are up to date on
payments. The retailer usually gives you 30 days from receipt of
your bill to mail

it in. The retailer will then dispatch a cheque to you within a
few weeks for the set amount.
Cashback is typically between £100 - £600 and is a great way to
save money. To be sure of success using cashback try to do the
following after purchasing a mobile.
1) Write down the date you bought the phone.
2) Keep all paper work from the retailer and your network provider together in a safe place.
3) Find out your billing date from your network provider.
4) Check which bills your retailer wants to see, work out and record the dates that these bills will arrive to you.
5) Check with the retailer the number of days that you have to send in your bill.
6) Set reminders for when your cashback needs to be done (record on a calender or personal planner).
7) Check exactly what your retailer wants to see - usually it is the first two pages of your bill,
along with a cashback coupon which was provided with the phone on delivery.
8) Send it in as early as possible.Following these steps will
ensure you receive the money that is owed to you.
Worked example of cashback
12 months free on a 12 month contract! Cost £30 a month from
Vodafone with £360 cashback from e2save. You pay £30 a month to
Vodafone and after sending in your 4th, 8th & 12th bill to e2save
you receive three cheques for £120 three weeks after mailing each
bill. This effectively makes your line rental FREE for twelve
months!Free Ipods, PSP's, Xbox 360's etc. will often be dispatched
after 3months, but terms can vary. |
